Periodically — daily, weekly or monthly — you should reconcile your accounts receivable sub-ledger against your general ledger to ensure accuracy in your books. There are accounting system that are complex and there are that are very simple to use, if you do not like the functionalist of a system with easy user interface, than you may need to choose the other option because functionalities are more important than how easy or complex it is to use.
